National Arbiters Seminar – Sydney 2026 – 7th to 10th of January

The University of Sydney Chess Club and NSWCA is happy to announce that it will conduct a National Arbiters Seminar under the approval of the Australian Chess Federation (ACF). The lecturers will be Bill Gletsos and Rob Watson.

The National Arbiter title is the introductory level of arbiters at FIDE-rated events. It provides a pathway to become a FIDE Arbiter and International Arbiter.

To obtain the National Arbiter title under the Australian Chess Federation:
1. Attend an ACF-endorsed National Arbiter seminar
2. Must be 16 years of age to attend the seminar and obtain a National Arbiter title
3. Pass an exam set by the lecturer at the end of the seminar (80% pass mark)
4. Pay the National Arbiter license fee to the Australian Chess Federation ($37).

Dates:
Wednesday 7th of January: 9am to 1pm
Thursday 8th of January: 9am to 1pm
Friday 9th of January: 9am to 1pm
Saturday, 10th of January: 9am to 10am, break, 12pm to 1pm, break, 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Note: The breaks on the Saturday are due to the ACF National Conference and the Australian Blitz Championships.

Venue: The University of Sydney Business School, Belinda Hutchinson Building (H70)

Paid parking is available on campus.

The National Arbiters Seminar is a part of the Australian Chess Championships 2026. All registrations are taken using the following link.

Cost: $40 for NSW residents. $100 for interstate residents.
